Description

A serene warmth enbraced Raesch as he entered the world of Daius. Blinding bright daylight turned into enveloping dark. His wings were no longer surrounded by thin mountain air but by gentle flames. The silence was covered only by Raesch's own beating heart. He was overwhelmed by the impressions around him and wanted to stop but his body continued to fly forward without his command. Something was pulling him closer. Someone was calling for him.

With every wingbeat he was getting closer. He could see huge wings moving up and down through the flames. Wings made of flames. That´s when he saw him head on- Daius. The firegod turned towards him, his large wings nearly engulfing Raesch. Waves of excitement rushed through the smaller bird. All of his life he had waited for this moment. Even as a hatchling he had heard Daius's gentle voice coax him from his egg and with the deity's guidance learned how to fly far before anybody else.

Daius had been there for Raesch for all of his life. Calling for him, urging to come closer. And Raesch had dedicated his life to the firegod. Day by day he had rosen up to the clouds, higher than any other strxy had ever dared. Every sunrise he had waited for Daius to raise above the horizon. But Raesch could never reach the phoenix. Just when he thought he was close enough the thin air would paralyze his breath and his wings gave out.

Year after year Raesch had attempted to reach Daius. His plumage had turned from a dark red to orange and yellow hues. His eyes had gone from ember to a ghostly blue, bleached by the deity's bright light. But he never gave up, he knew it was his fate to one day reach Daius.

And it was this day that he succeeded. Daius huge form hovered in front of him. Flames danced up and down his body. Huge white eyes were staring straight through Raesch. Eyes that had watched him all his life.
Raesch opened his beak, but he did not know what to say. He did not know what would happen next.

The huge god gazed at him in mysterious silence. His fiery crown illuminted his iridescent body.
Raesch's heartbeat had just calme a little when the god spoke up "Son..."

Featuring Raesch Raesch 7016 by EyeOfGalyx and Daius  LoreGods:

Nokt - A goddess said to be an enormous black owl, whose silver face is the moon. People who align themselves with the moon live a primarily nocturnal life, and believe that they receive Nokt's blessings when they ride her children, the Stryx, through the night sky for her delight. They attribute their dragons' night-time prowess to these blessings. Followers of Nokt are called Noktus.

Daius - God of the Sun, a phoenix-like eagle whose shape can not be discerned for all his brightness. People who align with the sun live a diurnal life, and believe Daius' blessings are the strongest. He is the bringer of light, giving warmth and beauty, aiding his children and subjects with the hunt. In daylight, Stryx and rider both have clear vision, and are easily able to survey their territories and fend off enemies. Followers of Daius are called Daiuses.
. For all of his life Raesch had chased after the deity. Sometimes wondering if it was a blessing or a curse, never knowing why he had the strong desire to reach the god.

Comments and Favs are very much appreciated <3  can´t even put into words how proud I am of this. All of my skills and knowledge poured into one painting. Even before I started drawing I already knew this was going to be special. Not only is it a life-changing moment for I my bird, but it is also a new milestone for myself.

Ooooh my gosh I love this so much! *O*
The way Daius looms out of the darkness in front of Raesch is just perfect. The black background makes it seem like a dream sequence (but nonetheless a real encounter) or as if Raesch has been taken into some other existence, briefly, to meet the deity face to face. Which is what I'm guessing actually happened, judging from that first part of the little story you wrote for this.
The glowing colors on them both really add to the feel of this too. And I really like the way Daius' mane/crest feathers look.

Just amazing!
